Life on Production
I have thought about putting my thoughts down on a continuous basis for a while now. Not because I think I have great thoughts but more of a record I can look back at and say to myself, “what the hell was I thinking?” I spend a lot of time away from home on the road and try to utilize my downtime to the best of my abilities – being as productive as possible at all times, hence this blog…one more thing to do. Sometimes I just need to relax and kick back, but when not at home with my family I can usually be found incessantly working on my computer like so many other work-crazed people in America (and sometimes I can be found doing just that at home too when I should be focusing 100% on my family). That is just the reality. I am on a continuous pursuit searching for success and find great joy watching our company grow. I actually enjoy dealing with all the struggles along the way trying to find meaning in it all. I am not sure what success is though, still trying to figure that out – good blog topic…gotta write that down.
In my job as a video Producer I am lucky enough to get to see and experience a lot. I have flown under the Golden Gate Bridge filming a container ship from a helicopter, I have explored mainland China producing videos about steam turbines, I have conduced over 1,000 interviews about everything from a Fortune 500 company’s latest SAP implementation to the darkest days of a drug addict. I am proud of the work we do. I enjoy talking about our journeys when people ask but have found that talking about our projects and travels usually seems to be so surface level; Where did you go? Who were you working for? Stuff like that. And, for me, it is so much more than that. What I have learned and seen over the last 14 years running my own business and traveling this amazing world is astounding. I wish I could write it all down – the little details, the inside stories, the funny happenings, the terrible days, and the overall life lessons behind each production journey. So that’s what I plan to write about on this blog or whatever this is. No politics, no music, and certainly no fashion. Just Life on Production, from my point of view.
